What to sing for spring musical auditions?

auditions for my schools spring musical is in two days. ive been procrastinating and my parents told me to give it a try even though im sick. im recovering, so i can sing. i sing soprano/alto, and i was wondering if anyone could help me pick a song? we cannot sing a "pop" song [not sure what they mean by that.] so no disney, or high school musical. it has to be from a musical theatre play, and does the cinderella with brandi in it count as a disney musical?

please answer as much of this as you can. thanks!

What to sing for spring musical auditions?phantom of the opera

I like to see kids try out with a song from the show...preferably from the part you want. Some directors don't like this, though, because they get sick of hearing the same song over and over. How about I Could Have Danced All Night, from My Fair Lady? Or perhaps Ten Minutes Ago I Saw Her, from the Cinderella musical? (I think it's the same music as in the one with Brandi, but it's been awhile since I saw that one), or When You Walk Trough a Storm, from Carousel? Or One Boy, from Bye Bye Birdie? Or Somewhere, from West Side Story? You can listen to them all on U Tube, I believe. Good luck...Break a leg!

Theres the link to the same question i asked

theres some very nice ideas

id suggest Dont stop believing by journey if u dont like any of these
Ok no pop means like britney spears and stuff like that, they also don't want you singing high school musical, because it doesn't really count as a musical. Now for ''spring'' I suggest Mary Poppins, or The Sound of Music is great! Plays like that would do just fine!

Good luck! I would try honey ony our throat and warm green tea, or water, also lemonade is great too!
Pop songs mean no Britney Spears and such like. When auditioning for a musical it helps you if you sing a song from a musical. Try to find songs from lesser known musicals like "Jekell and Hyde" or the "Secret Garden". Songs from musicals like "Phantom of the Opera", "Cats", "Rent" and "Cinderella" are very well known and oversung. Chances are your director has heard these songs over and over and over again. Find a song that shows off your voice to its finest. Remember to practice, practice and practice. Good luck in your auditions!
uh... it's not... at least i don't think so... it's a greyish area.... Sing something that doesn't strain you too much though. and drink warm water with lemon and honey... it helps me so..

Good luck!
"It Might As Well Be Spring"

Lyrics: Oscar Hammerstein

Music: Richard Rodgers

From the film: State Fair
"Ave Maria" seems to touch saints and sinners alike.

For musical theatre type songs, try:

* "The Sound of Music," or any of the solos from the musical, "The Sound of Music."

* You could try a Frank Sinatra-style "New York, New York."

Also, here's a link to Broadway. There's usually something showing there that might offer you some great songs to choose from.
The cinderella with Brandi was written by Rogers and Hammerstein as a tv special to showcase Julie Andrews, and there was a second special with Lesley Ann Warren before the Brandi version, The Brandi version has a more pop sounding score than the actual show, but it is also a stage play and doable for an audition but I would recommend getting an earlier version of the score to rehearse with. :)

Since it is in two days away sing what you know, go with Cinderella.
well, I got involved in a musical theatre play myself, and I've heard awesome ones, too! I suggest Les Miserables' "ON MY OWN" the one that Eponine sang, It's about a love kept because her love interest has a love of his own. anyways, if you listen to it in youtube, I'm sure you'll be very inspired. It was sung by Ms. Lea Salonga who also played the role. another suggestion would be.. "SUN AND MOON" it's a very motivating song, you know, from the theater play "Miss Saigon" also by Ms. Lea Salonga. well, Good luck!
