Good broadway musical songs?

i'm auditioning for a school that specializes in musical theatre. They have asked me to sing a broadway musical song that shows off my acting skills. Any ideas?

I'm not sure if you're a guy or a girl, so I'll try to give you some of each. If you're a girl, "Over the Moon" from RENT, "The Wizard and I" from WICKED, and "The Worst Pies in London" from SWEENEY TODD all require some acting.

If you're a guy, "Pirelli's Miracle Elixir" from SWEENEY TODD, "Master of the House" from LES MISERABLES, and "The Music of the Night" from PHANTOM OF THE OPERA.

Okay, i'm in the same predicament. This is some good advice. You want to do something that shows off your range. Don't try to go too far though. Stay in your comfort range, don't do anything that everyone knows and will compare you to the original, and NEVER pick a charecter song.

Soprano- If you can do coloratura soprano, Glitter and be gay from candide, it is hard but if you can really get it. This song can be your repitoire #1

Mezzo- Sing send in the clowns from a little night music, or Home from Beauty and the Beast

Alto- Someone Elses Story from chess

Tenor- Endless night from the lion king, It's hard to speak my heart from Parade(Insane Piano), or If you were gay from Avenue Q

Baritone- Anthem from chess or the old red hills of home from Parade(Insane Piano Part)

Bass- There really aren't that many songs for a bass in the theatre world but, look at Stars from Les Mis, it is a tenor piece, but it is still kind of high.
