Disney's next musical masterpiece?

Classics like Beauty and the Beast, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Lion King, you know the like. It's been a while since Disney had a movie like these (though I haven't seen Home on the Range, not sure if it was a music type) When I was growing up, nearly every Disney film had some type of musical deal to it, but lately that isn't so. I was wondering if Disney had anything musical planned or if anything is known about the next disney films after Ratatouille. Also, is there any particular reason Disney hasn't had a musical lately?

There's going to be one coming out soon, called 'The Princess %26amp; The Frog'. It initially had a title of 'The Frog Princess', but they changed it due to controversey. It's also supposed to be delayed, since they had to drastically change the storyline in order to not offend people.

What's especially notable about the film above is that the main character Tiana is to be the first African-American lead heroine in a Disney theatrical film.

Another film due out at the same time is Rapunzel, which is going to be done in CGI. It was originally due out this year, but was pushed back due to necessary retooling.

Both films have an expected release year of 2009.

As far as musicals are concerned, it could just be that they were considered "unfashionable" for a while. From what I've heard, I know that 'The Princess %26amp; The Frog' is set to be a musical.

most of the stuff your looking for goes straight to video like the tinkerbell movieand winnie the pooh

expensive conductors and lagging liberal art's support

not to mention that everyone is sick of the disney efect(multiple sequels dependant on heroes that were s'posed to die at the end of the story)on modern mythos

little mermaid(died to save the prince from the seawitch)

quasimodo(a real historical figure died from a fall from his tower)

pocahontas?( commited suicide at the age of 14)

how disilusioned do we want people to be?

the musical scores haven't been that great either

what happens to these kid's when they find out that not only is there no santa, bunny, toothfairy, and so on but all the cartoon stories actualy were told wrong anyway and poorly anastasia's version of rasputin was apalling...heroes villians disney doesn't care...
Disney hasn't released a 2D animated film in years because their recent ones (Home on the Range, Emperor's new Groove) were flops at the box office (although, the Emperor's New Groove was hilariously underrated). This could explain the break in musical animated films, plus the fact that they had a MAJOR realignment of their company recently, with a new head of animation, new CEO, and all that good stuff. They've also been working on their own CGI company (Chicken Little, Meet the Robinsons), although now that Disney owns Pixar, they have a lot of resources available to them to explore more mediums than 2D.

There's a lot of positive "buzz" regarding their animated films in development/production, especially with the Frog Princess (a traditional 2D animated feature) and Rapunzel (a CGI film that is supposed to "look" like a 2D feature, reportedly). The Frog Princess is in development now, and could be released in 2009-2010, and Rapunzel looks like it will have an opening date of summer 2009. Randy Newman (Toy Story) is said to be in command of the musical numbers for Frog Princess, so we'll see where that goes!
Because they realize that they can't reach out to little kids anymore. Smaller children are getting hooked on barney, dora, and older childern than that (around 8) are (god help us) getting hooked on anime, mainly Naruto (which pisses me off, cause i'm older than that and im tired of my podcast being messed over by some wannabe 8 year old's crap parade "Naruto podcast" where they just mastrabate and f%%26amp;^ with their stupid friends) (yes, i'm a narutard [meaning that i'm a big geek who worships naruto])
their last musicals, hunchback of notredame and pocahontas, from what i can remember were disappointments. at that time toy story came out and it was the new sensation, so they focus on CGI movies now.

musicals need to revived though, the lion king, the little mermaid and beauty and the beast are classics.
