Musical Styles Which Blended To Create New Genres?

I'd like to compare two sets, one great, one horrible

One Jazz and Rock combined to dreate Fusion

An amazing style of music pioneered by Jeff Beck The Mahavishnu Orchestra %26amp; Return To Forever

Two Metal and Rap compined to create the wretched Nu Metal

One of the absolute worst bottom of the barrel musicial styles in history, sperheaded by such talentless dreck as Korn Limp Biskit %26amp; Linkin Park

So, what rock musical styles can you came up with that have been created by the joining of two seperate musical styles?

Questions like this make me feel so out of the loop. I think the last New Genre I was aware of was Fusion. Sheesh! Being the age I am, I have found that I have a certain amount of energy to spend each day. Chasing sub-genres that have probably been made up by the media in the first place aren't high on my priority list. I have always approached music in a relatively simplistic manner: if I like it, then I listen to it, regardless of the genre. You know as well as anyone that any genre of music has at least one hidden little gem residing within it. I don't believe in sifting through all music to find them; I'm not that voracious or consumed. If I come across something that piques my interest because it made my ears happy, then I'll pursue it. Probably why I have so many single entries in my collection. I'm aware that we humans are hardwired to create little boxes of categories to make our world more palatable and orderly, but for myself, I realize that entropy is inevitable, so I embrace panache. Rock On, Darth.

First and foremost, do you hate nu-metal because you really dont like any nu-metal band such as Mudvayne, Slipknot, System Of A Down, and Chevelle (i know you only listed the s***ty ones to get people on your side) or are you simply jumping on the hate-nu-metal-bandwagon because all your friends are? Get a mind for yourself

Emo - the plague caused by meshing alternative and pop-punk. Nothing good can come from two bad pre existing genres.

Did I hit a nerve? LOL you actually took three posts to respond to my one comment lol. The truth can hurt sometimes, can it? Or if what I stated wasnt the truth, why are you taking so much offense to it?
You and Ryan are lame

Punk and Reggae made ska, Yay!

that guy wrote uncorrect, he spelled incorrect incorrectly....what a retard
it's sad how just because genres are semi-new, people are totally against them! People these days are so unaccepting of new music and there is so much hate. It's so annoying.

Sorry to have to write this in your answer but I have to say what's on my mind.

All music is joined in some way.. just like the messages sent out by punk and reggae can be so similar and so on
Ryan stfu about emo. Thats totally uncorrect; emo is not a blend of those two; at least the emotional hardcore and the indie emo scene weren't. Emotional hardcore was influenced by Husker Du and pioneered by former members of HxC punk band, such as Ian MacKaye and Guy Picciotto. The first indie emo band(SDRE) based their sound on post-hardcore bands like Fugazi, emotional hardcore, and post-punk band Mission of Burma. Bands after that lost most of the hardcore roots, but were still similar. Emo today is called emo becuase of a emo-influenced band, JEW, turned punk-pop.Emo today is generally bad and derived from pop punk, but bashing emo as a whole is retarded.
(:

well rap/so ganstah music mixed with screamo. ;o

i set my friends on fire covered solja boy
I too hate anything associated with rap......

I abolutely love Blues-rock %26amp; Southern-rock

ex: Tab Benoit, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Cream, Black Crowes, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Allman Brothers, Eric Clapton, etc etc
How about some Tropical music and Orchestra music to get Exotica genre. Martin Denny being one of the founding fathers of Exotica music. Also the Thrash Metal and Black metal creating Death metal genre, or Blues, Ragtyme, and Jazz to create Bluegrass. Bill Monroe comes to mind with creating Bluegrass. Throw in some crazy- a** chord progression, with electric instruments and you get Prog Bluegrass. Earl Scruggs and Lester Flatt comes to mind here. The list is endless.

Edit: I'm into about everything. I listen to most anything, but feel sometimes I have'nt heard anything looking at the music discussed on Answers.
the minutemen combined everything and punk...
