Musical therater?

I want to audition for musical theater and need a song from a broadway musical. I don't know many broadway shows and would like something for an alto mabe. Any suggestions or places on line i can get the sheet music for free?

It really depends on the show, and the character you are auditioning for. Try to find songs written by the same composer or in the same style as the show, and also one that reflects the character. Also, try to stay away from High School Musical, Wicked, or any other overdone peices. The directors will have heard these a thousand times before. My best suggestion is to find something little-known and right for your voice online. Google searches work fine. MusicalTheaterAudition.com also has some great ones. While your there, look up the show; it has character/plot descriptions and might help you choose a song. Break a leg! =]

Get limewire and type in Broadway karaoke - and then find the vocal version from the real show! You won't be able to get any free sheet music - which is the best way to go! You could go to musicalcreations.com and find one as well.

Here's Penn State's Showcase - this should help a little! Maybe you can find something you like!

I just completed writing a musical and I can e-mail you the lead sheet to one of the songs, and also the music. Do you want a male or female song? This musical has never been produced - sorry to say.
