HAIR- the musical?performing show

Check out the movie, but be aware that it does not exactly match the play in story line. I doubt that your school version will exactly match the original play either, since that ended with the entire cast on stage entirely nude.

Get a copy of the Broadway cast album (NOT the movie) and listen to the songs, learn what songs your range can handle. Other than the two lead guys, the remaining lead parts are fairly equal in stage time. There is one great showstopper song for a girl: the character Sheila sings "Easy to be Hard". If you don't have the range for that song, and you and not the very best singer in your school in that range, not to worry. The character Crissy has a less dramatic solo for a higher range. But mostly the parts are ensemble. The important thing will be that you have the ear to sing in tune with the rest of the cast. Have fun with it.

Hoo boy.........

Way back when, in the Stoned Age, there were a Tribe of people called "hippies". Some "hippies" got together and wrote a play about themselves. This play was called Hair.

Actually it has some great music in it. It is a rather quaint Period Piece now, but at the time, it Messed With The Straights (straight had a different connotation then).

Male: Claude, Berger, Hud (MUST be Black), Woof

Female: Sheila, Chrissie.

All other roles are from the Tribe. Try it. I lived it, and the Show is not that far off, if rather East Coast Hippie.

The music is phenomenal, and the infamous Nude Scene was only written in to Mess with the Straights (see above).
All I know is that it's about Hippies and "The Summer of LOVE" but stageagent.com can probably help you out.
I can only remeber there being 3 girl characters. The hippie chick that hung out in the park with them (a small part) The black girl that sang, "How Can People be so Cruel",( a smaller part) And the Rich Girl that looked down on them. You should really rent the movie to get to know the story, songs and characters.
No ... boring
You should research the play. You will get a betteridea of it. And you also might want to go ahead and wartch it.
idk it seemed booring its free on on demand!! im watching it 2day
In order to audition well, it would help for you to see the movie yourself. Perhaps your library has a copy you can borrow.
